Toyota to Introduce Amazon Alexa in its Vehicles

Toyota Connect

Technology has truly revolutionized our lives and changed the way we interact with most things in our lives. Smart home technology now allows you to control many aspects of your home remotely using your smartphone or other mobile device. As well, technology has also the way we drive and how we use and interact with our vehicles. Nonetheless, Toyota made a recent announcement that promises to push things even further when it stated that it will now feature the popular Amazon Alexa voice assistant in some of its new 2018 vehicles.

Which 2018 Toyota Models Feature Amazon Alexa?

At the recent CES 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, Toyota stated that it is integrating Amazon Alexa technology into its Entune 3.0 App Suite. This means that all 2018 models that feature this latest 3.0 version of Entune will also be able to take advantage of Alexa’s intuitive range of features. As of writing, this includes the 2018 Toyota Camry and the 2018 Toyota Sienna. However, the manufacturer also announced that it has plans to roll out Entune 3.0 on additional models later in the year. As well, Toyota stated that Amazon Alexa should be available on a much wider range of models beginning in 2019.

Toyota Entune and Amazon Alexa: Connecting Your Car, Home and More

Anyone who purchases a new 2018 Toyota that includes the Entune 3.0 App Suite already gain the advantage of many great features, including your own dedicated in-car Wi-Fi network and the Remote Connect app that gives you the ability to start your engine and lock and unlock your doors remotely via your smartphone. Still, the addition of Amazon Alexa gives you even more.

Your in-car Alexa will be able to perform all of the standard skills as an in-home unit, which means you can use voice commands to compose emails and text messages, ask questions or have it search the internet for information, or take notes and even write out your grocery list. Along with performing all of these standard functions, your in-car Alexa can also be used to play music and control your entertainment system or to find nearby locations and provide instant real-time directions on the easiest way to get there. You can ask Alexa to find local gas stations, grocery stores, hotels or whatever other businesses and services you need, and the system will then provide you with directions to guide you on your way.

You also have the ability to connect your in-car Alexa to any smart home devices you own or another Alexa device at your house or anywhere else. This gives you the ability to control any and all of your smart home functions directly from your car via voice commands, which means you’ll never need to take your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel. Simply give the command to adjust your home’s smart thermostat, open your garage door, turn on your lights, program your oven, set your TV to record, etc.

The benefits that Amazon Alexa can provide on its own are incredible, but combining it with Toyota’s Entune 3.0 App Suite takes the advantages to a whole new level. Still, you really need to see the system in action to fully appreciate all it can do. This is why we’d like to invite you to visit Toyota of Grapevine to check out Entune 3.0 and Amazon Alexa on our range of 2018 Toyota vehicles.
