Safety takes center stage in the all-new 2016 Toyota Prius. And this is shown in two recent tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In fact, the Prius Hybrid and Prius Prime Plug-in hybrid models performed quite well by earning a “good” score for front, side, roof and head restraints from the IIHS. In addition, the vehicle also achieved a “superior” rating for its available crash-avoidance system. See how the Prius performed in the NHTSA test by watching the video above!

Available in eight grades, Two, Two Eco, Three, Three Touring, Four, Four Touring, C and V, the 2016 Prius was built for success. And no matter what trim you choose, the vehicle comes well equipped at every level. Even the base Two gets high-end features like 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, and LED running lights and taillights at no extra charge.

Continuing the robust roster of standard equipment is keyless entry and ignition, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and automatic climate control. Entertainment-wise, the hatchback also comes with an easy-to-use 6.1-inch touchscreen, a review camera and voice recognition. There’s also a six-speaker sound system that delivers high-quality sound, making your drives a lot more enjoyable!

Prius Three and Four trims get a sunroof, a head-up display and Toyota Safety Sense systems. A JBL 10-speaker sound system, a self-parking system and Safety Connect emergency services can also be had on these two grades.
