How Often Should I Service My Toyota RAV4?
Although scheduling service appointments for your car might seem like a pain, staying up-to-date with vehicle maintenance can save money on future car expenses, and it can also make your car last longer. Each car needs to have regular maintenance to stay in good shape. However, the type of maintenance varies by vehicle, which means you should follow instructions in your owner's manual for the optimal Toyota RAV4 maintenance schedule.
15,000-Mile Service
The 15,000-mile mark starts the first of your Toyota RAV4 service intervals. A technician will rotate the tires, which is done about every 5,000 miles. The engine coolant fluid will be inspected, along with the boots and driveshaft boots. A mechanic will look at the mountings and exhaust pipes and look at the car's cabin air filter if you have one. The brake lines and hoses get inspected at 15,000 miles, along with the steering gear, radiator, ball joints, and dust covers. The oil will also be changed, and the engine's filter will get replaced. A mechanic will replace the wiper blades if necessary.
30,000-Mile Service
The next service milestone for your Toyota RAV4 is 30,000 miles. Some of the same services will be repeated at this point, including a tire rotation and an oil change. The engine filter may be replaced at 30,000 miles to ensure fuel flows properly through the fuel lines. Your mechanic will look at the wiper blades and replace them if they weren't changed at 15,000 miles or if they need to be replaced again. The brakes and braking parts, including the drums, brake pads, and discs, will be visually inspected. The mechanic will also check and replace the car's fluids as necessary.
60,000-Mile Service
When your Toyota RAV4 hits 60,000 miles on the odometer, it will have all four tires rotated. The wiper blades will get rechecked. The driver's floor mat will be evaluated for proper installation, and all fluid levels get inspected and replaced if needed. A Toyota mechanic may also change the car's oil and add an EFI tank additive or the equivalent. The brake pads and discs will get checked at the 60,000 mileage point, and the battery may also be inspected.
90,000-Mile Service
When your car reaches 90,000 miles, it will have the engine coolant fluid checked and the automatic transmission fluid inspected. The tires will be rotated, and a mechanic will look at connections for the fuel system and transmission. The engine and cabin filters will get replaced as well.
