Toyota got in on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this week when Toyota CEO, Akio Toyoda, accepted the challenge in Japan. During his challenge, Mr. Toyoda spoke about his personal experiences with the disease (he lost a close friend to it). He then nominated three other car guys including Nissan Vice Chairman Toshiyuki Shiga.

And now, Toyota North America COO, Julie Hamp, also accepted the challenge in honor of her sister-in-law who died from ALS last year. And she did it with a little bit of a twist.

Ms. Hamp, who along with Toyota made a donation to the ALS Foundation, added a little something special to her bucket of ice: the water coming from the back end of the new Toyota FCV, which is the only emission from the hydrogen fuel cell concept car.

And after some very (brave) employees dowsed their boss with ice cold water, Ms. Hamp made three nominations of her own including Toyota senior vice president of automotive operations Bob Carter. So it looks like we'll be seeing even more folks at Toyota participating in the charity event in the coming weeks.

The ALS Foundation has raised nearly $42 million for ALS research this year since the Ice Bucket Challenge became an international event as people across the world have come together for a good cause.
