Disney's Muppets and former NFL player/"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Terry Crews teamed up with Toyota for a comical Super Bowl ad promoting the all-new Highlander and upcoming Muppets movie. The commercial, titled "Joyride," tells the story of an average Joe (Crews) who's taught how to "unborify" his life by the Muppets.
Joyrides are taken to a whole new level when the Muppets are in tow, as seen in the new 60-second Toyota Highlander spot which aired for the first time on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Super Bowl XLVIII.
In the ad, the Highlander's passenger capacity is spotlighted through a depiction of the SUV carrying a rambunctious group of Muppets, Crews and a console full of chickens. Along with passenger space, the ad also emphasizes that Highlander offers lots of fun for large families, but while it provides room for eight, incredible functionality and Toyota's "Let's Go Places" spirit, it doesn't make room for boring.
The humorous Big Game spot combines Muppets mayhem, dancing, singing and fun shenanigans that viewers of all ages can enjoy. Regarding the commercial, Vice President of Toyota Division Marketing, John Hollis stated, "We all grew up with Kermit and the Muppets, and that makes Toyota's collaboration with Disney very special for us. The two brands share a focus on delighting guests, and this allows us to take them along on a fun ride."
