Getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time can be an exciting yet nerve-wracking experience, and at Texas Toyota, we recently made strides to help better prepare new drivers on the road and eliminate unnecessary worries with our Teen Driver Safety Clinic. Parents and teenagers from all across Grapevine gathered at our dealership on June 7 for an educational day focused around driver awareness and safety. Through our two-and-a-half-hour training course, we were able to open up the lines of communication between families and provide a steady foundation for new and soon-to-be drivers, which will set them up for success on the road.

Held in partnership with Toyota Driving Expectations, a program which teaches good driving practices to parents and teens, our Teen Driver Safety Clinic helped educate families about the dos and don'ts of driving through a series of hands-on activities, which were both fun and informative. Topics, such as car safety, defensive driving truths, car operations, how to avoid driving distractions and basic car maintenance, were covered extensively to better prepare each new driver and correct any pre-existing bad driving behaviors.

"Driving education starts at an early age," said Bill Adkins, owner of Texas Toyota. "Studies indicate that most children begin learning driving behaviors-both positive and negative-the moment they face forward in their car seats. That's why we've opened the clinic to pre-licensed teens, as well as those who already have their licenses. The objective is to lay a foundation for road safety. As we see it, driving is a privilege and not a right!"

Texas Toyota would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our recent Teen Driver Safety Clinic. We enjoyed teaching everyone about the importance of safe driving and look forward to hosting similar clinics in the future.
