Toyota has officially announced that they will be establishing new headquarters in Plano, Texas. The decision behind the move came after the automaker realized they would be able to better serve their customers by building a shared campus. The new headquarters, which will be up and running by early 2017, will become home to Toyota's manufacturing, marketing, sales, finance and corporate departments, uniting the company in one convenient location. The move will also allow the brand to continue their expansion efforts and create new opportunities in the future.

Although Toyota's Plano, Texas headquarters will take three years to construct, the company already has plans to begin moving small groups of employees over the summer. More than 4,000 employees are expected to relocate to the Plano campus by the time to building is complete - each hailing from Toyota's Torrance, Calif., Erlanger, Ky., and New York, N.Y. facilities.

"With our major North American business affiliates and leaders together in one location for the first time, we will be better equipped to speed decision making, share best practices, and leverage the combined strength of our employees," said Jim Lentz, chief executive officer of Toyota North America. "This, in turn, will strengthen our ability to put customers first and to continue making great products that exceed their expectations."

In addition to the opening of Toyota's Plano headquarters, the Toyota Technical Center, located in Michigan, will expand in order to better support product development growth. A new facility on Toyota Technical Center's York campus will also be built, as well as one at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky.
