Racing fans got some very good news last month when Toyota revealed its newest NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. Built from the newly redesigned 2015 Toyota Camry, the new Sprint Cup car will be making its debut at the Daytona International Speedway in February.
The Japanese automaker is the first car manufacturer to update their "Gen-6" model that made its first appearance back in 2012. The new Camry racer, while having very little in common with its street legal cousin, does have a similar exterior, including its head and taillights.
Toyota worked with the Calty Design team to update the regular Camry for the track, as well as to incorporate various aspects of the street car into the racer. The biggest change between the two is the racer's grille that, while similar to the standard Camry, is much more aggressive. The new NASCAR Camry also has a new hood and quarter windows.
"We're thrilled to finally be able to show off our new 2015 Camry race car - becoming the first manufacturer to update the 'Gen-6' model that was introduced before the start of the 2013 season," said Ed Laukes, TMS vice president of marketing.
Outside of the Sprint Cup also look for the new NASCAR Camry to be at the NASCAR Xfinity series (re: Nationwide Series) next year.
