A new report has just come out that puts Toyota at the top of a list of cars that can now go over 200,000 miles. The New York Times reported earlier this year that new model cars have increased their lifetime reliability, making the 200,000-mile target the new marker for the life of a vehicle.
Toyota – which is known for its amazing reliability – held five spots in the new top 10 list, with the Toyota Prius and Toyota Camry coming in first and second place, respectively. The survey looked at over 1 million vehicles to see which ones were making it past 200,000 miles. Unsurprisingly, it was only Toyota and Honda who made up the full top 10 list, with no luxury models making the cut at all.
This is wonderful news for consumers who want to drive their cars for as long as possible. The report did, however, state that it is still vital for car owners to continue to maintain their vehicles by getting routine oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, etc, which will extend the life of your car for year's longer than you would have thought.
