Human walkers and their furry friends strolled along the Mandalay Canal in the Dallas suburb of Irving on Saturday, April 16, 2016, in an effort to raise funds for the DFW Humane Society. Goody bags were handed out to the first 100 people who signed up for the annual Walkathon. Plus, prizes were given to those who raised the most money.
Featuring various vendors and spectators who cheered on the walkers, the event was a great way to help our friends at the DFW and have some fun at the same time. Texas Toyota of Grapevine is proud to have been able to help sponsor this meaningful event. “It’s through events like this that really highlight our commitment to our local community. At our dealership, we take pride in giving back to the Dallas-area in any way that we can,” General Manager, Neal Assad said.
The DFW Humane Society averages 800 adoptions a year and has raised $13,698 so far for 2016. The no-kill shelter is committed to providing homeless pets with a new home through adoption. They do not receive any federal funding, so donations are absolutely necessary for the organization to stay afloat.
