What's New For the 2019 Toyota Prius?

The 2019 Toyota Prius boasts a redesigned and amped up exterior, reshuffled trim options, and the highly-anticipated all-wheel drive system (AWD-e). The availability of AWD-e makes the 2019 Prius the first hybrid vehicle to also feature all-wheel drive capability. The new Prius should also perform better in cooler temps, as the 2019 is outfitted with a brand new nickel-metal hydride battery.

Though the interior styling is carried over from the 2018 Prius, the exterior received upgraded LED headlights and taillights in addition to redesigned front and rear bumpers, adding to the amped up effect the 2019 Prius has.

Great Trims to Choose From

The 2019 Toyota Prius is available in four distinct trims and six configurations. Trim levels include L, LE, XLE, and Limited. The new all-wheel drive component is available as models under the LE and XLE trims, and all available trims and configurations seat 5 individuals in the hatchback style vehicle.

A host of updated tech features are available in the 2019 Prius. Standard features include: Toyota's Entune infotainment system, accessible from a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, a six speaker audio system, USB connectivity, Bluetooth integration advanced voice recognition, Smart Key technology, Push Button Start, and remote illuminated entry. The AWD-e XLE trim is outfitted with a heated steering wheel in addition to heated cloth seats. Upgraded trim models can also expect a color head-up display, a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen, and adaptive front lighting, and upgraded SofTex upholstery.

A Powerful Engine Built to Conquer

2019 Toyota Prius Exterior FrontThe Prius shines with its ultra-fuel efficiency. The 2019 Prius boasts an impressive EPA-estimated 54 miles per gallon in the city and 50 miles per gallon on the highway. The 2019 Prius features a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine under the hood engine that pulls in 94-horsepower. The new addition of all-wheel drive features should work to boost the feeling of get-up-and-go in the Prius while providing additional traction. While not the most powerful engine on the market, the Prius sets itself apart from the competition with its continued commitment to fuel efficiency.

Advance Safety Gear

2019 Toyota Prius Exterior RearEach trim and configuration of the 2019 Toyota Prius comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense-P suite of safety features. Standard in this suite of driver assistive technology is a pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, steering assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and vehicle proximity notification. With the host of included safety features, the Prius continues its excellence in commitment to driver, passenger, and pedestrian safety. There is little to no difference between trims and configurations in safety features. The 2018 Prius received an overall five star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it is very likely that the 2019 redesigned Prius will continue to excel in safety when its ratings are available.
