What's New For the 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

In 2020, the Toyota 4Runner is safer than ever with more standard driver-assist aids across the board. The latest 4Runner also emphasizes comfort and connectivity with USB charging ports now included in the back row. The 4Runner's infotainment system is also updated for the newest model year.

This year, an eight-inch touchscreen comes standard across the trim lineup, but it gets more sophisticated technology and amenities as you move up the line. As before, the 4Runner still excels in the area of off-road capability this year. A number of configurations are available to meet the needs of different personalities and budgets. There is plenty of room in the 4Runner for passengers and luggage. Cargo fits easily in the versatile cargo area that has a slide-out floor for additional storage capacity.

The 2020 4Runner comes in eight distinct trims. The base trim is called the SR5. Even at the base level, you'll get a premium infotainment system featuring a high-resolution eight-inch display screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. This trim adds heated seats and power-operated seats in front. It gets a Premium sound system and an upgraded infotainment display with navigation. Its exterior features heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals. A push-button start is a welcome convenience. The TRD Off-Road gets custom trim badging on the outside for a unique appearance. It also gets silver-accented bumpers and a color-keyed hood scoop. This trim has a part-time four-wheel drive.

The TRD Off-Road Premium has special red trim-specific lettering on the front seats in addition to the external badges. It also gets an eight-speaker sound system. The Venture Special Edition has dark gray alloy wheels and a cargo basket for the roof. It also has heated seats and gets custom black door handles, bumper accents, and a black rear spoiler - the Limited upgrades to 20-inch wheels and leather seats.

A moonroof is standard on this trim, too. It gets more safety technology, including parking sensors in the front and back. The TRD Pro gets Fox shocks, dual-zone climate control, a black roof basket, and a shift knob accented with custom trim labels. The TRD Pro also gets LED fog lights.
