The all-new Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell sedan has announced a major milestone: a driving range of 312 miles. This is a very impressive driving range that bests Tesla’s electric sedans by 42 miles.
The Mirai is part of the automaker’s continuing efforts to find renewable energy sources for their automobiles. The car will make its first debut later this fall in California and then expand to other states like Texas and Arizona in the coming years.
"Just as the Prius introduced hybrid-electric vehicles to millions of customers nearly 20 years ago, the Mirai is now poised to usher in a new era of efficient, hydrogen transportation," said Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz in a statement.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars are only just beginning to make their way onto the automotive market, but demand for the new powertrains is growing exponentially as people see not only the benefit to their wallet, but also to the environment. The new sedan only emits water vapor and can be recharged in a very short amount of time. This new driving range proves that these types of cars are indeed the future of driving, so we’re very excited to see Toyota once again taking the lead on creating sustainable and innovative cars.
There’s no word yet on when we might see the Toyota Mirai come to Texas Toyota of Grapevine, but stay tuned to our blog as we continue to follow the birth of this amazing new sedan.
